Bloody pseudo-scientists

'But it's just a "theory" isn't it?' -It really bothers me when people say this. A theory in science is supported by all available facts and is self consistent. Any evidence to the contrary destroys this theory and any scientist worth his salt will go out of his way to destroy someone else's theory or find a better one to make a name for themselves, to gain prestige. Some things aren't always well understood or pieces of a theory may have alternate explanations, but they idea is always sound with supporting evidence.

And then there is Intelligent Design. It...but...phaa...not even balls enough to use the word God, but only a 'Supreme Being'. And...gah...--now I'm just spluttering in disgust--There are even tests for intelligent design, specified complexity and irreducible complexity, which no one has ever found evidence for. No where in science does God ever enter any theory, ever. Neither for nor against. Evolution is the current theory of biology regardless of the existence of a 'Supreme Being'. As a scientist, it offends me that politics and religion are trying...have entered the education system and are undermining the small amounts of quality education children still receive in spite of the excellent teachers :p. Science is the one subject where neither religion or politics should enter unless invited. But there's always someone that tells them where the party is and they crash anyway.
MSNBC:
HARRISBURG, Pa. - “Intelligent design” is a religious theory that was inserted in a school district’s curriculum with no concern for whether it had scientific underpinnings, a lawyer told a federal judge Monday as a landmark trial got under way.
